I've been a lurker but I agree our men need to get more acquainted with the naps. I'm transitioning right now and a I told this one dude that I cut my hair, which was below shoulder, and he bout died on the phone. But it doesn't matter, I'm learnin to be me :-)No mo perm burn!
Posted by Ruth at August 2, 2005 01:07 PMthank jeefus no guy has ever asked me to put draino on my head. they have more of an issue with me cutting my hair. as if longer is better, even tho they tend to meet me right after i shave my hair off.
but these locs have been doing fine...
DATE?? did you say DATE???
Posted by feepee at August 3, 2005 10:49 AMAmen! I totally agree! Say what you mean and don't hold back!
Off Topic: I looked at your album the other day and got inspired. I was able to give myself some pretty decent medium-size twist. I usually do them small b/c I like the way they curl up, but I saw yours and wanted to give it a try. I'm happy with them. Thanks, just wanted to share.

Ruth - Good luck with your transition!
Feepee - I agree..your locs are kickass! And yessssh I said date. :D
Bluchoc - Yaaay! It's good to try something new sometimes. Glad those bigger twists worked out for ya. :)
Posted by Lisa at August 6, 2005 01:41 PMI am so glad i found this site...and your comments really hit home. I recently met a man that can appreciate the natural hair thing....whether i was rocking my locs (which i recently cut) a twistout, an afro puff or a fro. He LOVES it...but more importantly I love it. Black men need to get on the bandwagon...my husband of 16 years divorced me because he said "I let myself go" and wouldn't get my hair "DONE" no more. Well brotha...goodbye..this sister is happy to be nappy. Keep on rockin it girl...you wear it well.
Posted by naturalbeautee at August 21, 2005 10:41 AMNat - Girl yeah...it's SO important that you find a man that loves your hair as much as you do. A lot of women like to say that it's not serious, but that's crazy when it's obvious that a big part of our perception and self-esteem ties into our hair. So you go for bouncing on ole boy for not feeling you in your full capacity! :)
Posted by Lisa at August 21, 2005 01:02 PMI've been a stalker for some time. Just have to say I agree with you about the "styling" of the hair. My goal is not about length or variety. It is about self acceptance and maintaining healty hair.
