Puff the Magic Nappy

Haven't done one of these in a while; mainly because after all while the darn headband gives me a headache. Plus I don't want to eff my edges. But they do come in handy when I'm in a rush. I just dampen a typically shrunken fro, brush the front down, pull on a PHHB, fluff and go.

Back of a pulled apart twistout:

I'm all hyped cause I FINALLY learned how to get a sharper closeup pic of the naps. So here's a pic of my very shrunken fro.

This is basically what it does when left to it's own devices and water from the shower. Shriiiiink! I can't really wear it like this, because the multiple textures make it look helmetty and uneven as hell. That's where the puff comes in. :)

It's been more than a week since I washed my hair and it was beginning to show, so today I gave it a good conditioner wash, a deep condition, and an apple cider vinegar rinse. Those rinses are sooo good for keeping the itchies away. Here's my hair...it's about 80% dry here.

Note the major shrinkage and varying textures. That should you give you a bit of insight into my reliance on twistouts to "blend" everything.

At this point I consider my hair to be at another in between stage. Long enough to do things like nice twistouts (flat and two-strand) and one or two afro puffs. But not quite long enough to pull back into a pony or or do new and interesting things with my twists. I really want some hang time on those, so I can put em up and lil updos and all that goot stuff.

But I'm patient and certainly enjoying my naps at every stage. :)

Applauds the new photos.. you're still doing the damn thang I see (and doing it well). I'm loving the texture shots and the amazing looking puff..

I got frustrated with my hair and threw it up into a weeve. Heck with the napps for right now. It was that or press it (and you know how that goes)

Its just not doing what I think it should be doing. Uneven as hell (front is long and back is too damn short), don't want to cut the front even with the back or i'll feel bald again, shrinkage of 200%, had to blow dry it into submission and still won't behave... sighs.. Weeve will be my best friend for a long while, and then i'll fiddle with my napps again. Hell it's a transition and protective style, so i'm all good.

Your hair looks fabulous!

My hair looks a lot like yours when it is wet. I have three different textures of hair. You are right it can look ‘helmety’.

I was doing regularly twisting my hair for a little while but I got tired of doing it! ;-) I am back to my Afro and occasionally I add a headband or a pretty flower clip to the side of my hair. I have the same problems with headbands I have had a lot of luck with the panty hose headbands. I am trying not to cut my hair for at least two years. It will be hard. I love short hair.

Reddy - I so feel you on the weave thang...I've been getting some huge cravings for a kinky ponytail lately! Take your time gal...the naps are gone be there when you're ready to fiddle. :)

Diva - I'm getting a bit tired of twisting too (even though it's a great protective style), so I've been just doing the fro thing most of the week and staying on top of moisturizing. I need to go accessory shopping!

I love my hair at this length...on the shorter side, but not too short. But I still want to see how long I can get it. So we shall seeee if I can ride it out. :)

Feepee - Thx girlie!

BC - Awww thanks! :D
